MEXICO - Life in color: A trip to remember

Mexico City is a bright soulful city where the people are so caring and interesting. Everything is handmade and cooked for real. The food was amazing and there were so many fresh food items you could never get here in the US the way you can in Mexico. For example the fresh squeezed orange juice literally everywhere. The delicious coffee and stuff. The street tacos that we ate every single day. Most importantly the good food that was not expensive.

BEING IN A CITY WE DON’T KNOW AT ALL BUT ARE EXCITED TO BE APART OF!

STREET FOOD

Everything was so fresh and half the time would be cooked right in front of you as you ordered.

I tried cactus on my tacos for the first time! Which was strangely delicious. (It sort of tasted like a pepper but not spicy at all with a unique texture.)

MARKETS

The handmade products the people of the city sell. Beautiful sewn bags and dresses, colorful woven baskets, gorgeous stones shaped into jewelry, crazy talented artists selling their art in the streets.

HISTORICAL WALK THROUGH LA CIUDAD DE MÉXICO

All of the historical BEAUTIFUL intricate architecture within the city’s center. Beautiful textiles cover a lot of the city’s buildings. Some of the historical buildings are decorated with beautiful gold details and intricate designs covering the entire surface of the building.

THE DRIVE THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS

The most memorable was this town we passed by on the way to the pyramids that was so colorful that it was like something out of a story book.

THE COLORFUL CITY IN THE MOUNTAINS

We were told this town was painted by a group of artists.

A group of artists, known as German Crew (the Germ Collective), initiated community participation to turn the central Mexican barrio of Las Palmitas (Little Palms), Pachuca into a rainbow-tinted mountainside town.

OVERALL TIPS!!!

*Take Ubers over Taxi: It is cheaper and safer.

*Mexico is not as scary as everyone says it is - Naomi and I felt completely safe.

*Definitely try the street food and check out all the markets in the different neighborhoods.

*Change your money at the Mexican airports instead of the American one. The exchange rate is better in Mexico.

XOXO
